Insurance firm confirms 120 new jobs for Peterborough
Scandinavian insurance giant Northern Swedish Insurance Company (NSIC) has announced a new Peterborough based UK operation which is expected to create up to 120 local jobs.
The new jobs will be largely office-based and include sales, support and telephone staff.
The firm's UK operation will sell its general insurance products: car, buildings and contents policies, through regulated brokers and agents.
The recent growth and expansion of NSIC is attributed to the ease of its quoting system, providing standardised prices and simplified quote application forms, enabling a quicker response to customer enquiries than its competitors.
Operating in Scandinavia since 1863, the firm is now the 11th biggest insurance company in Sweden, with assets of over £500 million.
CEO Rolf Torinson knows the UK insurance business well, having lived and worked here for a number of years. He was formerly the Operations Director of Yorkshire Life, based in Bradford.
Talking of his company's expansion, Torinson says: "In the past few years we've had excellent growth as a business, greatly helped by our great products. We hope to continue that success in the UK, and look forward to working with the industry professionals here."
Torinson lives in Leeds with his wife and two children.
